Presentation Overview

Overview of false and nuisance alarms; describing some of there impacts and presenting a number of examples from a pipeline SCADA system. Plan to discuss some mitigation techniques and resources including ISA technical reports and guidelines.

Colin Lunty
Process & Control Specialist, Suncor Energy

Colin is an Electrical Engineer working in the SCADA Technical Support team with Suncor Pipelines for over 10 years. He is responsible for the PLC and HMI systems as well as the Alarm Management program. Previously he had experience with automation consulting companies and a major natural gas pipeline company. Colin has been a member of the ISA 18.2 Alarm Management Standards committee since 2007. He has a passion for Human Factors and good design for HMI displays and alarm systems.
