Digital transformation is well underway in the process industries. Many organizations have launched their digital transformation initiatives with a ‘data foundation’ (data lake) project typically hosted in an enterprise cloud and are looking to ingest large volumes of operational data. Most are excited about the dozens of potential use cases for the data once it is consolidated in the cloud, but forget about the source of the data in these initiatives. We will highlight some examples where customers have successfully addressed these challenges with their legacy OT systems and are moving full steam ahead.
