Planning is in full swing for the 2018 Conference and we're thrilled to have these five gentlemen involved! They have all volunteered to be the lead for one our five conference tracks: Water & Waste Water, Wireless, Cybersecurity, Alarm Management & Leak Detection.
This year we've grown the conference from three to five tracks, our new additions for 2018 are Leak Detection & Wireless!
MEET OUR 2018 TRACK DEVELOPERS
Water & Waste Water - Abhishek Bhargava
Abhishek Bhargava is a graduate with B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay (India) and MSc. in Process Control at the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, University of Alberta, Edmonton. He started his career (2001) with Matrikon Inc. as a Process Controls Engineer and focused on PLC programming and Alarm Management. Abhishek joined EPCOR (2004) as a Process Controls Engineer and moved to Operations in 2006. He was responsible for day to day operations at the Edmonton WTPs as a Senior Manager, Operations from 2009 - 2014.
Abhishek moved to Gold Bar WWTP as a Senior Manager, Operations in 2014 and is currently responsible for Gold Bar WWTP and Clover Bar Biosolids Recycling Facility Operations.
Wireless - Jeff Gould
As Redline Communications' Senior VP of Global Sales and Marketing, Jeff Gould is responsible for establishing strategic direction and achieving results for marketing and sales initiatives. Prior to Redline, Jeff was General Manager at Honeywell and an executive at Matrikon, both of which were publically-traded companies. He brings over 20 years of diverse business experience with in-depth industrial market knowledge and a broad technical knowledge of industrial controls, advanced analytics, and connectivity.
Cybersecurity - Paul Baril
Paul recently joined the Network & Cybersecurity Team at Inter Pipeline as a SCADA Analyst Network & Cybersecurity to help them grow their program!
Paul graduated from NAIT in 1996 and worked for Telus for 15 years. He held several positions within Telus, all network related, moving from the private line test board dealing with slow speed private line, Datapac and T1 services, to managed operations where he was contracted out to other companies to manage their network and security environments, and finally finishing as manager of the Tech Strategy Labs.
He worked for Enbridge for 6 years as a subject matter expert in control systems network security helping to implement technologies to create and maintain a safe and reliable controls environment. In his day to day he designed network and security environments, supported field operations in their trouble shooting, and helped roll out new network and security initiatives such as the cross Canada cybersecurity upgrade of the control systems infrastructure.
Alarm Management - Arthur Kloc
Arthur graduated "eons ago" with a MSc in Electronic Engineering from Warsaw Technical University.
After coming to Alberta in the early eighties, he found out that there were few jobs in electronics but plenty for Instrumentation Engineers. That started his new career in water/waste water treatment, oil and gas fields in Libyan Sahara and of course oil sands and pipelines in Alberta.
Presently he is doing I&C consulting in oil and gas, and also busy in new company, Route 7, that he founded with three associates - they develop disruptive technology here in Alberta.
Leak Detection - Scott Medynski
For the past 17 years Scott Medynski has brought technology into global leaders in the energy and mining sectors. Scott holds a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta and has acted as an independent consultant, a technology developer, and as the owner/operator to evaluate and adopt new technologies that can make organizations more effective. He relies on expertise from mature industries and best practices Including training, and change management.
With Enbridge Leak Detection, Scott looks at new technologies that may enhance the existing capability, and understand how best to apply new sensors to operational environments. Scott has worked with engineering, testing and research teams to deliver first-of-a-kind accomplishments and manages pilot projects to understand how technology may be implemented and adopted within the organization.
